Rigby Joins FOMS Volunteers at Mad River Clean Up

WINSTED — State Rep. John Rigby was among 30 or so volunteers who showed up today for a riverwalk clean-up organized by Friends of Main Street. Colebrook resident Rigby provided one of the chainsaws used to drop unwanted trees that invaded the once well-landscaped area between Prospect and Main Streets. Volunteers from the community organization have worked on the area before, and on Wednesday they have plans to plant flowers inside Main Street’s center median. Rigby hailed the volunteer spirit surrounding the event, which had workers raking leaves, clearing brush and collecting garbage. Check out photos from the event:
